Outdoor Program - Summer Water Activities

Sign-up for all trips starts Monday May 19th at the Outdoor Program Office. Trip fees are due at sign-up and are non-refundable.  Further information about trips is available at the Outdoor Program.

 

 

 

  KAYAKING / RAFTING & WATER


WEEKLY THURSDAY SKILLS CLINICS

 

SAILING CLINIC, Lake Coeur d' Alene: An introduction to small boat sailing.  Learn proper terminology, technique, and rescue protocol. $30 includes transportation and instruction. Clinic: Tuesday June 24th @ 4:30pm & Thursday June 26th @ 8am.

 

SEA KAYAKING LAKE CLINIC, Evening at Spring Valley: This clinic offers a good introduction to sea kayak touring in a lake environment.  Participants will learn proper boat fitting, paddling and rescue techniques. $25 includes transportation, equipment, and instruction. Clinic: Thursday June 12th @ 4:30pm till dark.

 

WHITEWATER KAYAKING CLINIC, Spring Valley: This clinic will introduce participants to boat fitting, paddle movements, wet exits, and the eskimo roll.  $25 includes equipment, transportation, and instruction. Clinic: Thursday June 19th or Thursday July 17th @ 4:30pm till dark.

 

FLY CASTING CLINIC, SRC Lawn: A two session introduction to fly casting. Learn proper technique, or improve upon your existing skills. $15 includes equipment and instruction. Clinic: Tuesday July 15th & Thursday July 17th @ 5-7pm.  


INSTRUCTIONAL WHITEWATER KAYAK TRIP, This trip will include a class session with an additional two days on the river.   $50 includes transportation and instruction (does not include kayak for the river trip, personal camping gear, or food)  Trip: July 26th-27th, class session and pre-trip meeting Thursday, July 24th @ 4:30pm.

A beginners whitewater kayaking experience. This trip will be on the Lower Salmon or Selway River for two days. The first day will be spent getting acquainted with these "tippy" little boats on more swiftwater prior to whitewater, working on basic skills. We will camp in the canyon Saturday night. The second day we run a more wild stretch of whitewater to test your new skills. Participants must have attended a pool session or lake clinic

Cost: $50 - which covers transportation and instruction. (Kayak, camping equipment, and food are the responsibility of participants.) Rental equipment is available at outdoor rental office.


SALMON RIVER PADDLE RAFT TRIP (DAY TRIP),  We will float one of the best day sections of the Lower Salmon, Green Canyon, by paddle raft (everyone has their own paddle), basic instruction in paddle rafting will be the focus of these trips. $60 includes equipment, transportation, and instruction. Trip: Saturday July 19th, Pre-trip meeting July 10th @ 4:30pm.
