Climbing Wall

Located in the Student Recreation Center. The climbing center, the most comprehensive facility of its kind in North America, features a 55 ft. pillar and 6,000 sq. ft. of climbing area.

Mission Statement

The University of Idaho SRC Climbing Center is a fitness, teaching and recreational facility. The center promotes personal growth, teamwork, leadership, increased fitness, and recreational opportunities for the university community through climbing activities and programs.

Summer Open Climbing Times -  Monday - Friday 3:30 pm - 8 pm, Saturday 12-6 pm, Sunday CLOSED
        (Youth Open Climbing Program - (All open times above) 

 

Fees for Open Climbing: (*Participants must have completed The Basics Clinic or pass a belay check)

  • U of I Students & SRC pass holders: No Charge
  • Daily Drop-in: $6.00  SRC Day Pass
  • Season Pass covering 4-months (non-student): $78.00 with tax + $10 card fee for non Vandal card holders

Basic Clinic

  • U of I Students $6.00
  • Non-Students: $11

Equipment Rental

  • Harness & Belay Device: $2.00
  • Shoes: $3.00

Climbing Programs

Participants must:

  • Be 18 or older
  • View Orientation Video (must view at climbing center)
  • Complete an assumption of risk form
  • Pass a belay test or attend a basics clinic
  • PDFPrintable Release Form

The Basics Clinic

Learn about harnesses, knots, and belaying. Acquire the basic skills you need to start climbing on the wall.

When  (Summer all open hours)  Fall/Spring: Tues. 4pm, Wednesday 4pm and 6pm

Cost Students = $6 Non-students = $11

Youth Programs


Youth Open Climbing Program -  (Youth Open Climbing Program - Saturday 9 - 2 pm)
All participants are required to attend a (one time) Youth Basics Clinic and parents or legal guardian must complete an assumption of risk form at the climbing center. Parents or legal guardians are invited to stay and watch or participate with their child. (must meet open climbing qualifications to participate) Children 13 years & under are designated as “Climber Only” and must be accompanied by a registered Climbing Center parent/guardian.

Participants must:

  • Attend a  Basics Clinic 
  • Have parents or guardian complete an assumption of risk form
  • PDFPrintable Release Form
